Viridian Clearline Fusion integrated solar PV was the perfect choice for this stunning Grade 2 Listed Building in Wainstalls, Halifax. Its seamless integration preserves the building’s historic charm while enhancing its energy efficiency and integrate beautifully with the Yorkshire stone slate!
Our client owns a Grade 2 Listed Building and was determined to have the best integrated solar panels available.
We presented various options including GSE and Viridian. Despite the slightly higher cost, the client chose Viridian Clearline Fusion for their seamless integration.
Another priority of the client was upgrading the building’s thermal performance.
After securing approval for the Listed Building application, we began by erecting scaffolding and carefully removing the existing Yorkshire stone slates in diminishing courses.
We installed PIR thermal insulation board between the rafters, maintaining a 50 mm air gap above to prevent condensation.
Next, we applied TLX Gold membrane (Eco-roof thermal blanket), a low resistance membrane, across the rafters and counter-battened to ensure the roof replacement complex with BS5250. We laid 25 mm by 50 mm battens according to BS5534 standards.
We then relaid the stone slates in their original diminishing courses and installed the Viridian integrated solar flashing kit, precisely cutting around the perimeter and dressing the stone slates up each side.
All mortar work was completed using Lime-based heritage mortar.
As seen in the images, the Viridian Solar panels integrate beautifully with the Yorkshire stone slate.
